Party Congress of the Communist Party of Finland in Turku

The Communist Party of Finland held its party congress in Turku on 5-6 June 2016. The congress was attended by 100 delegates, 12 followers and 16 international guests. The party congress was attended by international guests from numerous communist and socialist parties around the world and the representatives of Cuba and Palestine. A delegate from the League of Communists of Finland also attended the meeting. The following international guests attended the party congress:

The party congress nominated a new central committee for the party. The new central committee elected comrade JP (Juha-Pekka) Väisänen as the chairman of the party, Miguel López and Susanna Rissanen as deputy chairmen and Petra Packalén as the general secretary of the party. CP of Finland opens new Secretary General Office in Tampere and Deputy Chairman's Offices in Kuopio and Jyväskylä. The following comrades were nominated to the central committee of the party:

The party congress discussed the political situation and endorsed a plan to update the political program of the party during the upcoming three years' term between party congresses.

The party congress also approved 8 resolutions regarding the opposition to neo-liberal policies of the European Union, on the directions towards socialist Finland, for peace and against imperialist wars, for ecological and social sustainability, solidarity and cooperation with immigrants, support for mass  movements and on improvement of social security and reduction of inequality in regard to health and access to health services.
